I imagine no matter what my age, I will always revert to a small child with each and every first snowfall. I’m happy to report that this particular morning was no different than any of my 44 previous first snowfalls.
I flew back the curtains and was absolutely mystified at the overnight magic. The coffee hadn’t even finished brewing and I was pulling out my boots from the back of the closet. Mittens, check. Scarf, check. Leash, check…
There we were, Willy and I frolicking through the sparkling snow, the first in the neighborhood to leave tracks behind. I live for that moment ~ new snow welcoming the change in season declaring winter officially here!
I must confess I am totally in love with snow at this point just don’t ask me how I feel about it come mid-February…err January. But today? I love it. I love the promise of change. I love the pristine white blanket. I love Mother Nature’s trumpet announcing Christmas and peace on Earth will soon arrive.
If you really think about it, there aren’t that many things that can take you back to childhood bliss. Snowmen, snow angels, snow forts, hot cocoa and bundled up so much you can barely walk…I remember it all like yesterday.
And yet…I can’t wait for tomorrow and all the first snowfalls that will follow.
